Merlesco is a deliciously uncomplicated, juicy and fresh ‘little Merlot’. Bursting with the aromas for fresh blackberry, blueberry and cherry fruit; this is a wine to be drunk young and fresh, the perfect summer red. Il Briccone (The Rogue) blends Aussie Shiraz and Italy’s Sangiovese grape variety. Primo Estate winemaker Joe Grilli aims to combine everything he loves about Australian wine with his Italian heritage to produce a very versatile wine. This is a full bodied red with plum, pepper and spice characters. The Sangiovese gives a burst of refreshing cherry fruit and a savoury finish. Spicy and elegant.
This is rich, smooth McLaren Vale Shiraz at its best. A carefully assembled blend of fruit from our two McLaren Vale vineyards. The classic richness of our McMurtrie Road Vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale is evident in this wine. However, it is the perfume and mineral texture of Shiraz grown in the shale stone of our higher altitude Angel Gully Vineyard in the subregion of Clarendon that sets it apart.
To create this wine using the Italian ripasso technique, newly fermented young Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon is pumped over the dried grape skins from the JOSEPH Moda for additional fermentation. The wine is then pressed and barrel aged. The end result is a full bodied and rich red with succulent cassis fruit notes over chocolate and tobacco. The Sangiovese gives the wine fine acid and a savoury finish with cherry fruit character.
