A generous, warm-hearted red wine with a long, velvety finish.

I started making the Virginia Vineyard Red over 30 years ago for a single reason - Life is too short to drink anything other than great wine. My aim is to provide a delicious red wine at an everyday drinking price.

We use a proven blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot to create a smooth, mouth-filling style. After blending, we age in older American and French oak barrels to marry the components.

The result is a juicy, generous wine with mellow, lingering oak character. It has delicious flavours of plum, blackberry, chocolate, and spice.

Excellent rating for price and quality. Full bodied and great structure. So often "cheap" wines are thin and acidic. Great fruit and tannin and good drinking for now. Have purchased in the past and left for a year or so - I know how even better it gets after a rest. THanks for a great wine at a very reasonable price. I'm passing on the good news to friends!

I've purchased this product a few times and have never been disappointed. As a stand alone wine it is pretty good but for the price it is excellent. So often cleanskins are limp and insipid but this is full bodied, juicy and mouth filling. Terrific every day drinking.

Primo shiraz/Cab/Merlot cleanskin is everything all the other reviewers have said and more. While a blend, the shiraz is dominant, but not overpowering. The cab adds body and the merlot adds smoothness. Normally not a merlot drinker, this is subtle and the ladies like the smoothness. A great everyday wine, always on the kitchen bench, not for the cooking, for the cook! Make sure you serve it at room temperature, at least 20Deg C. Not so easy this winter. An excellent wine for everyday drinking. It is, as described, smooth and medium bodied and not thin as in many cleanskins. Terrific value!! I have purchased now for a few months and have passed on my recommendation to friends.

This wine is like the Spanish Inquisition. Totally unexpected, It’s stacks up exceptionally well against mclaren vale shiraz at twice its price. A wonderful full bodied chocolate surprise.

I must admit to a bit of buyer remorse. I fell for the ad on FB and based on Primo Estate's reputation bought a box. My heart sank a bit when the box arrived and I saw "2020" on the outside. I had never bought a one year old red before. My fears were allayed when I opened I poured it - good colour, good nose and just so damned slurpable. Not necessarily a wine to discuss but one to enjoy and one that punches well above its weight division.

A softly elegant offering which belies it's price point ... the bouquet accurately forecasts the fruit and velvety finish, and lingering spice notes support this impression ... the very point of a cab/merlot/shiraz combination is vindicated ... not overly complex, just an honest any-occasion drink.

It’s $10 a bottle. Please show me a more drinkable wine anywhere for this price. I’ll wait… This could pass for something 3x the price. Versatile to be used as a no nonsense mid week quaffer or pull it out to drink when a more serious complex bottle would be unnecessary. A fantastic wine that everyone can enjoy.

This wine is awesome. Perfect accompaniment to pasta, roast or BBQ meat. I had it with lamb last night. One glass while cooking it on the BBQ and one with my meal. At this price point it is incredible value. Well done guys.

I was a bit sceptical to start but after reading the reviews I thought I would grab a case. Once opening, it was very bright and full of berry flavours. After being open for an hour or so, it was a wine that would challenge $25 bottles. I will definitely be buying again.

Really easy drinking, I paired it with some mussel risotto for dinner and they were great together. I thought it might be sweet but it was dry, which is how I love my wine. I must say that you can never go wrong with any of the Primo Estate wines or oils, I’ve been a fan for years. Thank you for being consistently excellent.
