To create the JOSEPH Sparkling Red a hogshead of the ultra premium JOSEPH Moda Cabernet Merlot from every year since 1991 and Primo Estate Shiraz from 1989 is added to a unique blend of museum vintages from the past 40 years. A tirage is completed only every 18-24 months, ensuring the base wine retains its unique character derived from the aged wines in the blend. After traditional fermentation in the bottle, the JOSEPH Sparkling Red disgorgement is rested on yeast lees for 24 months before hand disgorgement. It was liqueured carefully with a blend of aged Australian fortified wines to ensure a savoury style with perfect balance.

This is an extremely limited release which will sell out fast.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
We were thrilled to receive the runner up spot for 'Best Sparkling Red' in the Australian Sparkling Wine Report, Tyson Stelzer wrote: ’96 points. The grand complexity of Joseph meets every expectation of its deep and complex recipe, capturing all the depth and character of McLaren Vale cabernet, merlot and shiraz young and old. A deep purple hue heralds a universe of expansive complexity, spanning primary black plum and black cherry fruit, secondary roast nuts, dark chocolate and coffee and the tertiary allure of black olives. Firm, fine tannins and well-gauged dosage unite seamlessly on a long finish of captivating personality. Another great in the grand lineage of Joseph’ - Tyson Stelzer, Australian Sparkling Report 2017

Just opened a 2001 Joseph sparkling Shiraz tonight. What a delight! We were surprised by the fact it was still drinkable.... Much less outstanding. It accompanied a pork roast. I purchased the wine in Sydney in 2004 or so. Probably from David Jones or Ultima wines. Thank you for a delightful bottle.

My partner and I were in Melb for a break and had dinner at Grossi Florentino and choose this wine on a hunch and my god was it great...We loved it and had to hold off and getting a 2nd and slowed down on drinking it.

we found a bottle after this is a great bottle shop in St kilda and have now just ordered 6. Can't wait to crack one open again.

This is to my mind (palate) the best sparkling red currently on the market. Dark fruits, great complexity with layer upon layer of flavours - masterfully created. I recommend this to my clients as the one to buy and without fail they have been blown away!
